CREW ADVISOR (FEB 1, 2010). The good news in the 2009 itineraries is that 7 treks now do both the Tooth of Time and Baldy -- Perhaps there is recognition (feedback) that more groups wanted this.
4 end with the Tooth of Time -- 21, 24, 27 and 32, which is a kind of Philmont tradition. (other treks end with coming over the Tooth besides these 4 but these are the only 4 that also do Baldy).
3 others do the Tooth of as a Side hike as you travel north across Tooth Ridge toward parts north and Baldy --22, 25, 29. (These can be very dry while on Tooth Ridge)
To me, it looks like 21 and 24 are the best treks for doing Tooth and Baldy as you start in the north and end with Tooth of Time. Trek 32 is a super strenuous trek and 27 has a tough last day (Clark's Fork to basecamp with a stop at the tooth is a very long day).
It looks like as new treks for the Tooth and Baldy were created, the numbers on other existing routes, especially those in the 20s, appear to have been shifted and shuffled. You can find the same general treks--just they now live at different numbers.
As soon as we know anythng about the 2010 treks, we'll let you know!

I was looking at Itinerary 22 and the map > does not seem to reflect the document Chris passed out at the meeting. > It does not return via the Tooth of Time.

This is a reminder that we have an important meeting regarding Philmont this Sunday 1/31 from 2-4pm to review the plan for our Philmont trip in July.
Also note that our next payment of $400 is due February 1 in order to make final payment to Philmont in February.

As we move into 2010, we are just about 6 months away from our trip to Philmont! Attending Philmont during the 100th anniversary of the BSA should be an experience that will last a lifetime.
With that in mind, I’d like to highlight some important dates for planning and preparation.
1/31 (2-4 pm) Important Administrative and Planning Meeting at Grace Chapel
2/1 Next Trip Payment ($400) is due.
4/17-19 Prep Trip #1 ( Hoosier Nat Forest – Twin Lakes )
5/1 Final Trip Payment ($450) is due
5/22-24 Prep Trip #2 ( East Fork State Park , OH or Red River Gorge, KY)
June Final Prep Meeting/Activity as needed
Each of these is important so please make these priorities. If you have any questions please contact me.

Wilderness First Aid:
- Is REQUIRED for at least one person per Crew going to Philmont (recommended for two per crew).
- Meets the First Aid Requirement for the Venture Bronze and Ranger Awards
- Is intended to provide support to an injured person occurring beyond the standard 911 response interval (30 minutes)
- Is a Friday evening to Sunday afternoon class
- Is being offered by Dan Beard Council on the weekends of March 19-21 and April 23-25 at Camp Craig .
- Costs $130 ($100 for youth) which includes meals, sleeping bunks, training manual and reference materials
- Is open to any scout youth, venture youth, or registered adult leaders
We must have a minimum of 2 people attend (who would by definition be in different Philmont crews) but it would be great to have 4 or 6 complete this course.
