What is Venture Crew?
Ever wanted to go sailing in the carribean, canoeing in the back woods of Canada, or backpacking in New Mexico? If you answered yes to any of these questions, or just have an itch to do the extrodinary, then you belong in the CREW!
- Just like our name says, we are a Crew (Social Group) that seeks Adventure. Similar to a High School High Adventure Club, the group is Youth lead, determines its own direction, does not wear uniforms, is Co-Ed, and is limited only by their own imagination (except for a few scout mandated restrictions). We plan monthly adventure trips and at least one major trip each year (see Venture crew pics from Sea Base 2009).
If you would like to visit or learn more about the Troop 43 Venture Crew please contact the Venture Crew Advisor Chris Guay, one of the Associate Crew Advisors on the Contact Us page, or simply stop by a meeting and check us out. The Venture Crew 43 meetings schedule can be found under the "Upcoming Events/Calendar tab". Please check the Calendar for exact date and time.
Upcoming Trips Summer 2011 - Canoeing in the boundary waters of northern Minnesota - A limited number of spots are still available Summer 2012 - Seabase Summer 2013 - White water rafting/Philomont/anywhere else you decide to go!
Who can be involved in Venture Crew?
- Venture Crew is open young men and women age 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. NO SCOUTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. While this is a BSA associated program, the purpose of the crew is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults in a fun based program. Similar methods to Boy Scouting are used such as encouraging Leadership, participation in Group Activities and High Adventure outings, Recognition for your achievements, and Teaching others.
Goals
Young adults involved in Venturing will:
 |
Learn to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values in the Venturing Oath and Code. |
 |

 |
Acquire skills in the areas of high adventure, sports, arts and hobbies, religious life, or Sea Scouting. |
 |
Experience positive leadership from adult and youth leaders and be given opportunities to take on leadership roles. |
 |
Have a chance to learn and grow in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. |
